The BIG Clan wins the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022 against the Evil Geniuses despite losing their opening map. Next opponent is Astralis on Friday. The BIG Clan has reached the next round in the play-in stage of the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups. The team around ingame leader Johannes 'tabseN' Wodarz won the best-of-three against the Evil Geniuses with 2:1 on Thursday evening. In addition, Natus Vincere won against Team Liquid and MIBR against Complexity Gaming in the elimination round.
Backlog after defeat to Overpass
BIG had to chase a deficit after 8:16 (6:9, 2:7) on Overpass. On the second map Dust2, however, the Berliners started their comeback. At half-time, the quintet led 9:6 on the T-side and successfully kept the North American team at bay after the change of sides.
Dust2 consequently won BIG 16:12 before it went to the decisive map Vertigo. In the first half, the battle in the skyscraper remained a tight affair. The German team switched from the attacker to the defender side with a narrow 8:7 lead.
On the CT side, BIG then successfully closed the bulkheads and won the map with 16:10. Statistically the best player on the Berlin side was Florian 'syrsoN' Rische with a K:D of 62:44.
In the semi-finals of the play-in stage at the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups, the Berliners will meet the Danish team Astralis on Friday at 6.30 pm. Before that, Team Vitality will play MIBR at 1.30pm and Natus Vincere will face Ninjas in Pyjamas at 4.30pm.
